If you would read this post that I wrote a while back, before I myself got into Pottermore, that may explain most of my feelings at the moment.
So, as I said, I imagined myself as a Ravenclaw. Now, you can see that did not happen. The past few weeks I’ve been thinking I may actually do better in Slytherin. (I swear I’m not making that up.) But I got an opportunity to see that Slytherin is a really cool house to be a part of. So I was actually glad to get into Slytherin. If I had gotten Ravenclaw? I don’t know what I would have thought. But I’d keep trying to get better at such qualities. Just because I’m Slytherin doesn’t mean that I can’t be smart like a Ravenclaw. Hermione didn’t let a different house stop that.
A few things I already knew about Slytherin:
- They are not all evil
- They can be determined, clever, and witty
- Not all are pure-bloods (Take Voldemort for example.)
A few things that I learned from Pottermore however…
- Merlin was a Slytherin
- They look out for one another
- Salazar looked for seeds of greatness in his students.
That last one. “You’ve been chosen by this house because you’ve got the potential to be great, in the true sense of the word.”
The potential to be great. As I stated in the other post, some people don’t show their qualities right away, but it builds. I am somehow going to eventually achieve this greatness and acquire these characteristics, just like I said I would.
This is going to be a great year.
